Hi, I noticed that all SODE jetways, at least in the sceneries I have (LIRF, EPWA, LEVC), when docking to the airplane (in my case 737 NGX, P3D v3.3) have the foremost part, that is the part that docks to the airplane, that disappears when seen from inside the virtual cockpit and you see pieces of inside the jetway and the front part is missing, really a mess. This doesn’t happen with normal CTRL+J jetways and Aerosoft AES ones. Is it possible to improve the visual model of the jetway, so that it’s seen correctly from the VC? Thanks.

The difference between the jetways from SODE and the normal or AES ones is that they are placed as SimObjects (think of static AI traffic). Maybe the rendering system of the simulator handles those differently. There’s nothing much I can do about it then.

Just checked it in P3Dv3.3 and yes, the jetways gets clipped by the rendering engine. Also the terminal building or other objects gets cut by some invisible bounding box of the aircraft. As I said, I can’t do much unfortunately.

Tested it with stock CTRL+J jetways and the visual clipping is the same. So it is related how P3D handles those clipping planes.

EDIT: After reading the Camera SDK of Prepar3D, I found a solution

You need to edit your cameras.cfg for your virtual cockit: Add the line ClipMode = Minimum to the definition and the near clip plane is set to the minimum distance and won’t cut off other near objects anymore.
Details can be found here: http://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv3/LearningCenter/utilities/camera_configuration/camera_configuration.html

Thank you very much! I will test tonight at home…

Perfect, I had clipmode=normal, switched to minimum and now the jetway is ok!
    Thank you vey much!

Sorry, the problem is not solved, because with clipmode=normal I have a lot more flickering objects in the distance (also runway surfaces). That’s why I had clipmode=minimum, that’s a tweak in order to reduce flickering/shimmering… An alternate way to avoid jetway clipping should be found…

Tell Lockheed Martin about it. As mentioned, nothing much I can do. It’s how the rendering system is designed to work.
