SODE not working, blank menu

When I try to open SODE and register my flight simulator then menu is completely empty without the option to register. In the log it says: No target simulator platform supplied. Have seen that many people have this problem. What should I do? It is very frustrating that I cannot get my scenery to work.

Which simulator are you speaking of?

The SODE platform manager scans the Windows registry for the entries that are made by the different simulators. If it can’t find the entry, then it can’t display it in the tool.

Hi. I am using FSX Steam Edition through the Steam App on a gaming laptop. It is quite strange that it cannot find my simulator because it is located in C:/Programfiles (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common, and in common I find the FSX folder. The SODE is located in C:/Programfiles (x86)/12bPilot, where the SODE folder is. Many people have been reporting this problem and it is very frustrating that the scenery is not working because of the SODE. Very strange that the platform manager can’t find the simulator since it is located where the simulators are usually located when installed.

There were lots of cases where a previous install or a incomplete uninstall of FSX would leave traces of it in the registry, fooling FSX-Steam‘s installer.

You mean the FS9 FSX registry repair tool from Flight1? Is it safe to download and will it not make trouble for the simulator? Can try it if it is safe. Seems logical that the manager can’t find the simulator because of registry. I have only installed FSX Steam Edition once but I can try running it anyway.

Yes, but before you run it, could you post the two logfiles named PLTMGR_FSX-SE.log and PLTMGR_DETECTION.log from C:\ProgramData\12bPilot\SODE\log ?

Just to check if there is an issue with a “fake” dual install of FSX and FSX-SE

Hi. You asked me to post logfiles PLTMGR_FSX-SE.log and PLTMGR_DETECTION.log from C:\Programdata\12bPilot\SODE\log. But when I go into the SODE folder there are no logs. There are SODE and the manager programs. And other cfg files, but no log. When I search for PLTMGR on files on my computer I find nothing. I installed SODE the usual way, so I don’t get what is wrong with it.

SODE and the manager program are in the “Program Files (x86)” folder, the logs and other stuff in the (possibly hidden) “ProgramData” folder. Blame Microsoft for the similar naming… 😉

I cannot find any logs in the Programdata folder as well. Also my antivirus is complaining about corrupt registry elements. It asks me to delete corrupted registry elements to optimalize the system. Is that safe to do? Or will it delete my games?

Looks like the registry warning is away so I guess it has deleted the corrupted registry files. But still, I can’t find any SODE folder in Programdata (not Programdata x86).

Can you please reply to my message. I asked if it is okay that there is no SODE folder in the Programdata folder. And can I run the registry repair tool or is it a problem that there is no SODE folder in the Programdata (not Programdata x86)? I hope you can help me with the issue.

During installation, the default option is that SODE installs into ProgramData x86. So if you didn’t override that, then there should be for a folder called “C:\Program Files (x86)\12bPilot” and a “SODE” folder under that “12bPilot” folder.

Yes. There is a 12bpilot SODE folder in Programdata x86. The problem is that the platform manager can’t find my simulator. Should I just run the registry repair tool? I won’t risk my files getting messed up? I can run it because there is a SODE folder in Programdata x86 then.
